BTS Jimin, the first Korean solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart
Billboard announced on Monday (April 3) that Jimin, a member of the K-pop supergroup BTS, made history by becoming the first Korean solo artist to reach number one on the US Top Songs chart.
Single Like Crazy debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, knocking out Miley Cyrus’s Flowers, who reigned for eight weeks.
Billboard tweeted, “Jimin became the first Korean solo artist to reach #1 on #Hot100 thanks to ‘Like Crazy’.”
The song, from Jimin’s first solo album Face, dates back to 1958 and is the 66th track to debut atop the Hot 100 chart, combining US streaming, radio play and sales data from all genres, industry tracker reports.
Face peaked at number two on Billboard’s main album chart, making it the highest-charting album by a South Korean solo artist, surpassing BTS member RM’s Indigo, who reached number three in December, industry outlets reported.
