WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden on Monday (April 10) said he plans to run for re-election in 2024 but is not ready to announce it yet.

“I plan to run… but we’re not ready to announce that,” Biden said in an interview with NBC’s Today program ahead of the Easter Egg Roll at the White House.

Biden said he plans to be the Democratic nominee in 2024 but has not made an official announcement. Both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have said they will run together.

Top White House advisers will make the final decision on the launch of Biden’s re-election campaign, NBC News reported, citing unidentified sources.

“The deciding part is over, but he’s not satisfied with the pressure to announce what he’s decided,” a source familiar with the matter told NBC.
